Four boys represented KEHS in three different regional teams during the June holidays.
Sean Abbott and Devandré Sissing made the Southern Natal u/19 team and played in the Reitz tournament for small schools. Devandré has made us very proud by being selected for the SA Small Unions Team that will tour Ireland in September.
Jason Viviers was selected to play for KwaZulu Natal Country Districts at the Academy week held in Wellington. He was also appointed as Captain of his side. His team won two of its three matches and could boast with the greatest number of tries scored at the tournament.
Tevan Lehman was selected for the Border Country Districts Team that played in the Craven Week Tournament that was held in Port Elizabeth. Two of his games were televised and he enjoyed the experience very much.
The school would like to congratulate the boys on their achievements. We trust that the commitment and determination shown by the boys thus far will hold them in good stead in the future!
Selected for Natal CD u/18 Team to participate in tournament in Wellington from 01 July 2012.
Four local King Edward High School boys, Tevan Lehman, Khanyisile Mdlankomo, Christiaan Barnard and Damian Canham, attended the 'SA Rugby Grant Khomo' tournament (equivalent of 'Craven Week' for under 16) in Queenstown hosted by Border Rugby Union, from 4-7 July 2011.
CRAVEN WEEK REPORT BACK
The seven boys from King Edward who had the privilege of representing Border Country Districts at the Fourty-Eighth Craven Week in Kimberly this year are in consensus – it was an honour to participate in a tournament of such a magnitude. The seven boys : Shaun Abbott, Dwayne Gafney, Gavin Haddon-Davies, Robin Johnson, Devandre Sissing, Jason van der Merwe and Jason Viviers (vice captain) will acknowledge that it was not an easy task. The Border Country District Team faced Zimbabwe, Griqualand Country District and the Leopards, but were unable to secure a victory in any of the encounters. The boys however returned home having had the experience of a life time. The KEHS Boys thank James Gregory from Berg Gasoline for sponsoring their diesel to Kimberley and back.

KEHS win thrilling Local Derby
1st Rugby: Wednesday 20 April
The highly anticipated clash between KEHS and Kokstad College once again lived up to expectations. The first half was a tough bruising battle with no inch given on either side. Many big hits were given and taken. The score at half time was 3-3. The second half saw KEHS start to assert themselves at the breakdown. Continuous pressure in the Kokstad College 22m area was rewarded with a try by Brylan Donnelly. The final move of the game saw Kaya Valashiya score an excellent try in the corner to secure a 17-3 victory for KEHS.
This annual derby was a tribute to school boy rugby – hard tough and fast. The fact that two schools, of the size of KEHS and Kokstad College can deliver this kind of rugby is proof that the heart of rugby in South Africa is still sound.
This was the first game of the season for the Second Team. This was a very evenly balanced contest. The final score of 10 all is fair testimony to the engaging game of rugby played by both teams.
The KEHS team was up against some big opposition. Despite giving it their best, the KEHS boys were 18-0 behind at half time. With their 'never-say-die' attitude and the fact that the boys played more as a team allowed Kokstad only one more try. The final score was 23-0 to Kokstad College.
Eerste Span Rugby 2010
On the tour to Durban the team did exceptionally well in beating
opposition like Groverner Boys High School and Kingsway High School. It was at this stage that the team’s backline started to find consistency in selection and on the field. Our defence was doing well and, it was this that laid the
foundation for the season to come.
The contribution of the Old Boys, who formed the tunnel on the field, must be applauded. The game was exactly what one would expect of a local derby - hard as nails, not an inch given or taken. King Edward was able to convert its dominance into points - 12-0 - it was a day that we shall always treasure.
The league ended with King Edward on top - the only unbeaten team in the league. However the league did provide the team with its biggest challenge in the form of Ugie High School- Ugie being the only team to score against King Edward in the season.
