HIGH SCHOOL PRIZEGIVING 2022

On Thursday, 20 October, King Edward High School held their annual high school prizegiving. It was a grand occasion as we returned to normality after the covid pandemic. It was a prestigious event showcasing the academic, sporting and cultural excellence of KEHS.

The following learners received special awards:

  • Matron van Rooyen for service delivered in the J.D. le Roux hostel – Rendani Mathoho and Imkhitha Sotshongaye.
  • Public Speaking – Aviwe Sakwe.
  • Braam van Tubbergh Trophy for most promising athlete – Advocate Matheza.
  • Trophy for athlete of the year – Porsché Killian and Snemihle Zongola.
  • Cricket: best bowler – Kadin Kok, best batsman – Zalin Jansen, trophy for cricket player of the year – Devon January. Rugby: best backline player – Olothando Sapo, best forward – Rendani Mathoho, most improved – S'phesihle Matomela, Albany Bakery
  • Trophy for the rugby player of the year – Kevin Nkansah.
  • Netball: most improved player – Mihle Mbangeni, best defender – Onthatile Qhu, best attacker – Palesa Mabea, best centre – Chulumanco Gwaxa,
  • Angela Cilliers Trophy for player of the year – Olwethu Yenge.
  • Hockey Girls: best striker – Thapelo Erasmus, best defender – Reitumetsi Pakkies.
  • Hockey Boys: best striker – Lamonte Dickens, best defender – Blessing Chinzete.
  • Trophy for the hockey player of the year – Reabetsoe Nakin.
  • Soccer Boys: most improved player – Ledia Seliane, trophy for player of the year – Fezile Jozi. Soccer Girls: most improved player – Khanya Rabelemane, trophy for player of the year – Refengkgotso Setloboko.
  • Best sporting achievement in the high school – Porsché Killian and Snemihle Zongola.
  • Headmaster’s award for service to the school – Rendani Mathoho and Aviwe Sakwe.
  • Eugene Hayes Trophy for Sportsmanship – Lukhanyiso Mona.
  • Round Table Senior Award for Good Fellowship – Aviwe Sakwe.
  • Dux trophy for 2021 – Kamvalethu Majavu.

The highly anticipated announcement of the 2023 prefects saw the following Grade 11 learners taking up the mace of authority;

  • Lesiba Mmamogobo and Sasha Harris will lead the group as Head Prefects, Sithenkosi Bubu and Likho Ndumndum as Deputy Prefects.

The prefects are Oarabile Cheka, Praveena Govender, Sarah-Jane Höll, Bubomi Manciya, Amahle Moyo, Reabetsoe Nakin, Esona Nikiwe, Jené Niehaus, Buzzinski Saliwavikwa, Robyn Williams, Nicolate Willmott, Lamonté Dickens, Vuyo Giwu, Lehakoe Koalane, Sepadi Mmamogobo, Dintle Moso, Sentle Moso, Lolwethu Mshiywa, Takudzwa Nyathi and Inga Xabendlini.
