Adventure on the Grade 7 tour
Our Grade 7 learners recently returned from an unforgettable 10-day tour, held from 11 to 20 September, packed with adventure, discovery and plenty of laughter. The tour gave learners the opportunity to explore some of the Eastern and Western Cape’s most fascinating destinations while creating memories that will last a lifetime. The adventure began with a visit to Mountain Zebra National Park, followed by stops at a farm stall outside Aberdeen and in Willowmore. In Oudtshoorn, the learners enjoyed visits to Safari Ostrich Farm, a wildlife ranch and the spectacular Cango Caves. The journey continued to Mossel Bay, where the group visited the Diaz Museum, enjoyed the delights of Redberry Farm and tested their courage and agility at Elevate Park. Acrobranch ziplining and ten-pin bowling added even more excitement to an already action-packed itinerary. In and around Knysna, the learners were treated to visits to a raptor rescue centre, Knysna Elephant Park, Monkeyland and Birds of Eden. The learners also enjoyed a very interesting and educational tour at Morning Crisp in Port Elizabeth, where they were taken through the different departments and given an insight into how the business operates. A beach day in Jeffreys Bay then gave everyone the chance to relax, have fun and enjoy some time beside the beautiful coastline. A ferry boat cruise provided another memorable experience, while the learners also had the opportunity to learn about the important work of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), adding an educational element to their coastal adventures.
From early-morning starts to crisp air, new experiences and plenty of laughter, the Grade 7 tour was certainly one to remember. Despite the challenging weather, the learners approached each day with enthusiasm and made the most of every opportunity. It was a wonderful combination of education, adventure, friendship and fun.
Pre-school Fun Athletics
On Thursday, 17 September, our Pre-school had its annual Fun Athletics Day — with an exciting twist.
Due to the inclement weather, the event had to be moved from the sports field to the main hall. It was the first time the Pre-school had hosted the event indoors, but the change of venue did nothing to dampen the spirits of the young athletes. If anything, the main hall was filled with even more sunshine as the young learners enthusiastically demonstrated their talents and abilities. With proud parents cheering them on, the atmosphere was electric and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by learners, families and staff alike.
The school extends its heartfelt thanks to all the parents for their continued support and involvement. Events such as these would not be possible without the encouragement and commitment of families who play such an important role in the lives and development of their children.
A special word of praise must also go to the young learners, whose enthusiasm and positive attitudes shone brightly throughout the day. At KEHS, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Through play, participation and shared experiences, our youngest learners continue to grow, discover and build confidence.
