King Edward High School Swimming Gala: Battle of the self
Sport is back in full swing and the swimming gala provided much anticipated and needed competition and fun. Though some were ambivalent about the event, due to the general fatigue brought on by Covid-19 and its restrictions, the event was a success. The sound of singing and the presence of healthy competition was enthusiastically welcomed by learners and teachers. KEHS is dedicated to developing the whole person, and sports is necessary for personal and social development.
It was anticipated that the gala would be short due to the lack of swimming practices during the Covid-19 pandemic, but the event filled the whole day, with enthusiastic participation. We had a number of siblings and two sets of twins, competing with each other, which made for some excited moments. As expected the relay event was the most anticipated event and it yielded loads of fun, as the two Houses, Graham and Melville, gave their all. Though there can only be one winner -Graham in this case- both houses displayed the fine school spirit, good sportsmanship, and healthy competition. Well done KEHS and Graham house in particular.
