Gr 3 KEHS Day
On Friday, 21 April, our Grade 3 learners had the opportunity to visit the Botha’s Dairy Farm for their KEHS Day. They were fortunate to see three new calves that had been born the night before. They also had the opportunity to see the bigger calves being fed and the sick calves treated with medicine. Afterwards they enjoyed a picnic in Mrs Botha’s beautiful rose garden.

Gr 9 KEHS Day
On the same day, the Grade 9 class of King Edward High School went to the Catholic Church in Matatiele. They were privileged to have the Archbishop retrieve the historical documents of the Matatiele Catholic Church and deliver them to Sister Lucinda. She was gracious enough to take them on a tour of the church. They viewed the irreplaceable European stained glass windows and listened to the fascinating history of the Sorour family - the forefathers of our very own deputy principal, Debbie Harrison. They commissioned and raised the funds to build the church in the early 1900s. The Grade 9 class was enamoured, but as Sister Lucinda said: “Don't be impressed by money, followers, degrees, and titles. Be impressed by kindness, integrity, humility, and generosity”.
Gr 5 Tour
Fifty-one excited learners left King Edward on Monday, 1 May, for their long awaited Gr 5 tour to Kinderstrand. On arrival, eager instructors met them. They kept them busy for the whole week with a variety of activities, which encouraged teamwork and leadership skills.
They learnt about sea creatures and had the opportunity to experience this first hand by snorkelling in the rock pools. Their horizons were broadened by this enriching experience.

HS Rugby vs Voortrekker
As a relatively small school compared to most of our competition on the coast, our rugby boys have to be at the top of their game every match. We expose our sports teams to bigger and better equipped teams to raise our own level of performance. On Saturday, 6 May, we travelled to Voortrekker High School in PMB.
We are very proud of our KEHS boys once again. This time it was our u/14 A rugby team who optimized the KEHS spirit, as they were victorious 17-12. The u/16 boys held their ground, to draw 5-5. The first team, despite valiant efforts, lost 23-10. Onwards and forward, as we look ahead to our next round of games with anticipation.
