St Monica’s 7’s Rugby Tournament

The variation of the traditional 15-man game requires speed, fitness, agility, vision and an absolute never give up attitude. Our u/16 and 1st boys’ teams participated in the annual St Monica’s sevens tournament. This year, hosted at King Edward High School on 13 May, the competition was fierce, especially in the 1st team category. The tournament final played between KEHS and St. Monica’s was very closely contested. KEHS managed to clinch the tournament trophy with Advocate Matheza scoring a last minute try after the siren sounded. This try also received the “try of the tournament” title. The very talented KEHS u/16 team performed superbly, winning back-to-back games and the overall u/16 trophy. Lehakwe Pheko was named u/16 player of the tournament. Our philosophy of “never give up” was once again, passionately displayed by the KEHS rugby boys.
