KEHS SCOOPS NUMEROUS AWARDS
The KEHS matric class of 2023 excelled in their final NSC Examinations, upholding the fine record of the school.
At the glittering Alfred Nzo Municipal Award Ceremony, KEHS walked away with 7 trophies and corresponding certificates. King Edward High School was recognized as the top school in the combined Alfred Nzo East and West Districts. We were also proclaimed the top school in Mathematics and Physical Sciences. Mr Nyathi and Mr Philip were rewarded for being the top Maths and Science teachers in the district. Lamonté Dickens was further declared the top Accounting learner in the district with 92%.
We appreciate all the encouragement and support that the Matatiele and Alfred Nzo District Municipalities afford our school. We are partners in the success of our community.
The KEHS matric class of 2023 achieved a 100% pass rate with an impressive 85,7% Bachelors admission. This places KEHS amongst the top 4 schools in the province. In addition, a remarkable 84 distinctions were achieved from the class of 49 learners. Significantly, distinctions were achieved in 12 subjects reflecting quality education across the board.
The standard of the results was most gratifying with 45% of grades above 70% and 88% above 50 % - a very positive skewing of the normal distribution of symbols.
Bubomi Manciya was the Dux of 2023 with 5 of her subjects above 90% and 6 distinctions in all. The class of 2024 has big shoes to fill in succeeding their 2023 counterparts and we wish them well.

The Alfred Nzo District distinguished itself with Alfred Nzo East placed first and Alfred Nzo West second of the 12 Educational Districts in the Eastern Cape. This is a remarkable achievement given the impoverished, deep rural nature of the District. We salute all the educationalists and managers who went beyond the call of duty to achieve these excellent results. Matatiele has established itself as a hub of academic excellence and we congratulate Focused and St. Monica’s who also achieve a 100% pass rate in the NSC Examinations.
