Celebrating Success in Sports
Last week was a whirlwind of excitement and sportsmanship at KEHS, as students across all age groups showcased their talents and dedication on the field. From virtual reality adventures to thrilling fixtures against rival schools. The week kicked off with an innovative twist as learners embarked on a virtual reality safari, expanding their horizons beyond the classroom. This immersive experience not only sparked curiosity but also ignited a sense of adventure and exploration among the students.
JP and SP Sports vs Bergview
In sports fixtures against Bergview, our JP teams displayed resilience and skill. The hockey, netball and rugby matches were fiercely contested, with each team giving their all. Special congratulations to the u/8 hockey team for their 7-0 triumph, the u/9 netball team for their 5-0 win and the u/9 rugby team for their commanding 35-0 victory. The u/7 hockey team drew 2-2; while the u/9’s lost 3-5. Our u/7 netball won 1-0 while u/8’s lost 2-5. The u/7 rugby lost their games but the u/8’s won 10-5. The u/11 netball team won 3-2 while the u/13’s lost 2-3. Our u/11 hockey girls won 6-2 and our u/13B drew 0-0 against the Bergview u/13A’s.
Netball Triumph
In a thrilling display of determination, the 1st netball team of KEHS was triumphant in their match against St Monica's. The game ended with a resounding 27-15 in favour of KEHS.
High School Showdown
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the much-anticipated High School Sports derby against Kokstad College. Our netball, rugby, and hockey teams showcased exceptional determination and teamwork, securing notable victories. Standout performances include the u/16 rugby team's convincing 26-7 win and the 1st rugby team's outstanding 62-0 triumph. Additionally, the u/16 netball team claimed a resounding 22-9 victory, while our 1st netball team dominated with a 30-11 win. The u16 and 1st hockey matches were lost 0-2 and 0-1 respectively.

Hockey Excellence
On Saturday, our 1st hockey team showcased their skills at the KZN SPAR Hockey Festival. Despite facing tough competition, they emerged victorious in their pool, demonstrating their prowess on the field. Their third-place finish in the tournament is a testament to their hard work and dedication. Scores were as follows: 2-0 vs Bergview, 1-0 vs Creston College, 1-0 vs South City, 0-0 vs Suid Natal, 0-1 vs St Patrick’s and 1-0 vs Port Shepstone.
Rugby Recognition
We are proud to announce that several of our rugby players have been selected for the SKZN rugby teams across different age groups. This recognition is a testament to their talent and commitment to the sport. The players selected in the u/12 age group were Miyolo Mfenyana, Ntsika Catywayo and Sibu Nkumbesi. In u/13: Hlelo Ndawonde, Mihle Sijeku, Luvo Mvimbi and Iviwe Gebe. In u/16: Wyatt Jacquire, Kera Kortjaas, Ziqhamo Silevu, Avuzwa Dlungwana, Awonke Vabaza and Lehakwe Pheko. In u/18: Wesley Willard, Trevor Mkhati and Advocate Matheza. Special congratulations to Wyatt Jacquire for his selection to the u/16 Coastal Country Districts team and Awonke Vabaza as a reserve.

KPS JP & SP Rugby and Hockey Festival
The festival was a blend of spirited competition and enjoyable camaraderie. The learners enjoyed the festival filled with fun and sportsmanship. Thank you to KPS for hosting this event.
