KEHS News - 17 February 2026

From dancing shoes to cricket bats, swimming pools and festival fixtures, our learners have enjoyed a busy and rewarding week representing KEHS.

JP & SP Valentine’s Ball

On 12 February, our JP and SP learners enjoyed a delightful Valentine’s Ball filled with excitement and happy memories. The children looked wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to socialise and dance together. The event was a joyful occasion for our younger learners to celebrate friendship in an atmosphere of fun and safety.

Mini Cricket vs Bergview College

On the same day, our U6 to U9 cricketers took on Bergview College in a series of mini cricket matches. Our U6 team played their very first cricket match, and what a special moment it was. The boys tried hard throughout the game. Although no runs were scored by either side, it was a wonderful introduction to the sport and a proud moment for our youngest players.

Our U7 boys scored 50 for 2 to win the game. Our U8 team scored 51 runs for 1 wicket while restricting Bergview to ensure the victory. Our U9 A team scored 57 for 2 wickets to win the match. Not to be outdone, our U9 B side scored 54 runs for 1 wicket for victory. It was a fantastic day of cricket, with our young players growing in confidence and showing great enthusiasm.

Orange Grove Sport Festival

From 13 to 14 February, our high school teams participated in the annual Orange Grove Sport Festival hosted by Sarel Cilliers High School. Our teams competed in rugby, hockey and netball against strong opposition, including schools with learner numbers at least three times our size.

Our U14 rugby team bravely faced very tough challenges against the much larger schools and were defeated by Ferrum and Vryheid. Our U16 team also encountered strong competition, losing to Sarel Cilliers and Vryheid. However, our 1st rugby team delivered an excellent performance, earning a well-deserved 29–22 victory over Ladysmith in a hard-fought match.

Our 1st hockey team had an impressive festival, remaining unbeaten in all their fixtures, earning two Player of the Match trophies. They secured a 2–1 win over Empangeni in a friendly match. The following day, they continued their strong form with a 2–0 victory against Vryheid and a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Amanzimtoti.
