KEHS Shines at the Matatiele Local Municipality Matric Awards
On 17 February, the Matatiele Local Municipality Matric Awards ceremony recognised the dedication and achievements of our pupils and staff in the 2025 Matric NSC exams. Areahe Kwili was placed in the Top 10 and achieved 1st place in History and English Home Language, while Unathi Koyana also featured in the Top 10. Reinhard Mulder achieved 1st place in Afrikaans FAL.
Mrs C de Kock (English HL), Mr Ndlovu (History), Mrs B Prinsloo (Afrikaans FAL) and Mrs Nyathi (Life Sciences) were rewarded for producing the best results in their subjects. Our school was further honoured with awards for Best Quality Results and announced as the Top School, a true reflection of our continued commitment to excellence.
Cricket
Our U13 cricket side delivered an excellent performance against St Monica’s on 16 February. Despite limited recent practice, the boys showed great composure and skill in this T15 fixture. Batting first, we posted a strong 121 for 4, while restricting St Monica’s to 29 runs and securing a 92-run victory. A special mention goes to Mohale Ramabitle, who claimed four wickets in a single over in a remarkable spell of bowling. It was an excellent all-round team effort and a positive contest between both sides.
On 19 February, our U9 hard ball side played against KJS. After restricting KJS to 72 for 6 in 20 overs, we chased down the target in just 16 overs, reaching 73 for 6 to win by four wickets. It was a confident and determined performance from our boys.

Mini Cricket
Our U7 team produced a confident display against Focused on 17 February, scoring 39 runs without loss while restricting Focused to 24 for 3. Our U8 side followed with an impressive 63 for 3 in response to Focused’s 26 for 3. Our U9 team added to the success, making 53 for 3 and holding Focused to 47 for 3 in a closely contested match. It was a rewarding day for our young cricketers.

On 19 February, our U6 boys thoroughly enjoyed their matches against Bergview. Team A narrowly lost 32 to 36 in a tight contest, while Team B secured a pleasing 35 to 22 victory. The enthusiasm and teamwork were wonderful to see.
On the same day, our U7 team travelled to KJS and delivered a composed performance, scoring 51 runs and taking 5 wickets while limiting KJS to 26 runs. The boys represented the school proudly both on and off the field. In the U8 match, KJS scored 46 and took 1 wicket, while we made 44 but claimed 5 wickets. Under the mini cricket scoring system, we secured the win, with Luna Ntuli taking an excellent four wickets.
HS Sports
Our High School teams enjoyed a highly successful day against Ixopo on 21 February. In rugby, our U14 side secured an impressive 31–7 victory, followed by a confident 37–5 win from our U16 team, while our 1st rugby team completed the clean sweep with a strong 27–7 triumph. Our hockey teams were equally impressive, with our U16 side claiming a 5–0 win and our 1st team delivering an outstanding 11–0 performance. On the netball courts, our U16 team earned a well-deserved 13–7 victory, and our 1st team rounded off the day with a convincing 28–13 win. It has been a week of excellent achievement across academics, culture and sport, of which we can all be immensely proud.
