KEHS 1st Team Rugby, Hockey and Netball Festival
The KEHS 1st Team Festival held on 28 February, was a splendid occasion for our school and hopefully the first of many more. The day reflected lots of preparation and teamwork, with staff and learners working tirelessly to ensure that everything ran smoothly. We were proud to welcome the visiting schools: St Patrick's College, Maclear High School, Ngangelizwe Senior Secondary School, St Monica's, Ixopo High School, Umtata High School, Khanya, Bergview College and Kokstad College, creating a vibrant and competitive festival atmosphere.
On the rugby field, our U16 side delivered an outstanding 24–0 victory over St Patrick’s College, while our 1st rugby team secured a 12–0 win against Ngangelizwe Senior Secondary School, demonstrating disciplined defence and effective attacking play.
Our hockey team recorded impressive 3–0 wins over St Monica’s and Ixopo High School, a convincing 4–0 triumph against Umtata High School, and a hard-fought 0–0 draw with Bergview College. Although we lost to St Patrick’s College 1–2 and Kokstad College 0–2, our players showed resilience and determination throughout.
The netball courts were equally energetic and competitive. Our KEHS 1st team achieved excellent victories over St Patrick’s College (15–5), Ngangelizwe (11–10), Khanya (26–1) and Focused (30–0), and fought hard in a closely contested 8–11 match against Umtata High School. Our KEHS 2nd team also produced commendable results against the visiting 1st teams, defeating Bergview College (16–6), King’s College (15–13), Ixopo High School (15–7) and St Monica’s (17–13), while gaining valuable experience in a challenging match against Ngangelizwe, where they lost 8–19.
Beyond the results, the festival was a celebration of school spirit, sportsmanship and community. The fields and courts were filled with encouragement, camaraderie and pride, making the day a fantastic success. We really appreciate all the teams that attended and played excellent sport in the finest of spirits.

JP & Pre-school Fun Gala
Our Pre-school and JP Fun Gala took place on Wednesday, 25 February, at the town swimming pool. Every learner had the opportunity to participate, ensuring an inclusive and exciting day for all. Events ranged from delightful Donkey Races for our youngest swimmers to full-length Freestyle races for our squad swimmers. All participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the friendly competition. Spectators proudly encouraged the little ones as they gave their best in the pool. The gala was a wonderful celebration of participation and courage and a resounding success.
Mini Cricket
On 26 February, our mini cricketers took to the field against St Monica's. It was another positive outing for our U7 cricketers. Although they started slowly in the field, they soon found their rhythm. Improved bowling and sharper fielding were followed by confident batting, with KEHS scoring 53 for 1. St Monica’s replied with 28 for 3. It is encouraging to see the steady development of our young players.
The U8 match was equally pleasing. St Monica’s posted 32 for 6, while our team responded with an excellent 47 for 3. The boys showed growing confidence with both bat and ball, working well together and applying the skills practised at training.
Our U9 boys delivered another composed performance. KEHS scored 40 for 1, while St Monica’s managed 22 for 2, rounding off a strong day for our mini cricketers.
KEHS Inflatables
The KEHS Inflatables day on 27 February, brought plenty of excitement, with learners enjoying hours of sliding, jumping and riding. The grounds were alive with laughter as children made the most of the activities. It was a joyful occasion and a welcome opportunity for everyone to relax and have fun together – not to mention the fear of height and speed.
