King Edward HS wins Soccer & Netball Tournament

On Wednesday, 24 August 2022, King Edward High School hosted its first ever girls’ soccer game against Bergview. The game was well attended by learners, teachers, and parents from both schools, who were greatly excited. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation. Both teams looked professional in their soccer regalia and they exhibited commendable discipline as they arrived on time and warmed up thoroughly before the game began. The match was thrilling as both teams played hard and really wanted to win. King Edward High School emerged the winner with a score of 3-0. We are proud of our girls and intend to build on this victory.

The boys’ soccer team brought home the trophies they won at the Bergview tournament on Saturday. They played three soccer matches; drawing 1:1 against Focus and beating Bergview and Matatiele Primary School 2:1. We continue to support the development of the boys’ soccer team at King Edward High School with great interest.

Soccer was not the only sport on display this past weekend. The first netball team also participated in the Bergview netball tournament and won overall. They played, as always, with discipline and passion and brought home the silverware.

King Edward High School hosted a boys’ Hockey festival on Saturday, which was well attended by the surrounding schools. It was great to see the sports fields filled with enthusiastic youngsters with flailing sticks and expressions of delight. This is precisely why we are in education!
