HS Soccer vs St Patrick’s College
Our soccer teams had fixtures against SPC on the 7th of August. Our 2nd team soccer boys secured a decisive 5-1 victory, while our 1st team won 3-0. Our 2nd team soccer girls edged out SPC with a 1-0 win, but our 1st team narrowly lost 2-3 in a closely contested match.
HS Inter-Schools Athletics
The HS Inter-Schools Athletics, hosted by KC on 15 August, saw impressive performances from KEHS athletes. Oreboloke Moorosi was named Best u/14 Boy, with Ngcali Matheza as runner-up. Junior Mncadi earned Best u/15 Boy, while Lihle Nontwana was the u/17 runner-up. Trevor Mkhathi was recognized as the Best u/19 Boy, with Qhayiya Sapo as runner-up. For the girls, Refengkgotso Setloboko was Best u/19 Girl, and Ayanda Nondabula was the runner-up. Refengkgotso was awarded the Senior Victrix Ludorum trophy and Junior was the Junior Victor Ludorum winner.

KZNCSSA South Durban Zonal Athletics Trials
KEHS athletes delivered a stellar performance at the KZNCSSA South Durban Zonal Athletics Trials held on 16th August. A total of 141 of our athletes competed, and an impressive 126 of them qualified for the Durban South Christian School team. We emerged as the overall winner, finishing 1st out of 10 participating schools. The athletes broke a remarkable 19 records, and equaled two records. Records were broken by: Leah da Silva (u/10 Turbo Javelin), Reothespile Mbulawa (u/7 60m), Lere Tyika (u/8 60m, 600m and 80m), Laytham Tatchell (u/8 600m), Junior Mncadi (u/15 High Jump), Mivuyo Ncgweni (u/11 Turbo Javelin), Ovayo Diko (u/11 80m and 100m), Sithenkosi Mdlazi (u/19 200m), Ninke Marx (u/9 600m), Jaeron Dickens (u/13 1500m), Mbeko Qayi (u/13 1500m), Jordan Thomson (u/15 800m and 1500m), Oratiloe Ramabitle (u/15 1500m), Taelo Mapena (u/17 1500m) and Abongile Tshingo (u/17 1500m). Entle Mlobeli (u/7 60m) and Kungawo Mafunda (u/10 High Jump) equaled existing records. Ovayo Diko was named Junior Victrix Ludorum (10-14 years), and Junior Victor Ludorum (7-9 years) was Lere Tyika. Other best performance scores included Qiana Haddon Davies (600m), Ninke Marx (600m), Reinhard Mulder (Hammer) and Abongile Tenene (Hammer).
Kokstad College 1st Boys & Girls Soccer Festival
On 17 August, KEHS participated in the Kokstad College 1st Boys & Girls Soccer Festival. Our 1st team soccer girls had mixed results, with a 1-0 victory over Ixopo but were defeated 0-2 by Mount Currie in the semi-finals. Our 1st team soccer boys faced tough competition, losing 0-4 to Ixopo and drawing 0-0 with St Thomas. They managed a 1-1 draw against Mount Currie to round off their matches.
Gelofte 1st Rugby 7’s Tournament
Our 7’s rugby team participated in the Gelofte 1st Rugby 7’s Tournament on 17 August. Although they faced tough opposition, losing against Amanzimtoti (10-24) and Kloof (0-24), the team rallied with a 17-12 victory over Kuswag and a dominant 36-0 win against Werda. Their efforts culminated in winning the Bowl Final.
